poem: sudden destinations

9 Dec

sudden destinations

no longer a poet
that light dimmed
on time        on schedule
as expected –

she’s a fickle whore
payment options    limited
coffers fall empty
trees    outside    hold no leaves –

on a plance    i settle
travel again
sudden destinations
        at my side
she sits    waiting    smiling
no expectations
no        questions

outside a harried sun
settles    below tarnished
horizons –

too many people
abandon words
little graveyard streets
a light flickers
and flickers

she smiles
and        smiles
